Learn to dance the Argentine Tango!

My Mission

Travis Widrick Tango School offers an environment in which you will learn to dance, meet new people, have fun, and feel confident and accepted for who you are regardless of age, dance experience, race, or sexual preference. Even more importantly, learning Argentine tango at TWT provides a way for you to pursue living an extraordinary life by encouraging you to embrace vulnerability, become more confident, and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. TWT will use tango instruction to embolden your creative expression and self-awareness in your pursuit of personal growth while also providing you with the skills you need to be proficient tango dancers.

I am happy you are here, and I look forward helping you on your way to dancing Argentine Tango.

1.) Where can you take classes and where can you go dancing?

The best way to begin learning is to invest in private or group tango classes. For some beginner dancers group classes are beneficial and offer a more social aspect. For others, the one-on-one attention of private sessions is ideal for consistent learning and becoming confident and dedicated. For many, a combination of both allows you to feel confident and have fun fast.  Tango Challenges & Private lessons with Travis

Every Wednesday 7:30 pm to 10 pm

Maine Ballroom on Congress St.

It is only $5 and is a perfect way to see if you like the tango. Before each practica from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm there is an all-levels tango class and drop-ins are welcome. Info about Wed. class and practica can be found here.

A milonga, or (social tango dance party) is where dancers go dancing. Often new dancers like yourself enjoy coming for the first time to watch and meet members of the community, and even get out onto the dance floor. Keep in mind, our community here in Portland is very welcoming and warm to beginners. Join us! All are welcome. Go dancing

2.) Do you need a partner?

No partner is needed, and all ages and abilities are welcome. If you do have a partner, of course, bring them along too. The more, the merrier.
